THIS IS A HIPPIE CHICK
She has n0thing whatsoever to do with today's post other than being a blatant attempt to get more people to visit this blog under false pretenses.

THIS IS A HIP JOINT

WHICH IS ALTOGETHER NOT THE SAME AS A HIPPIE JOINT

My mother, 85 years old, had a fall last Sunday and on Monday, it was confirmed that she had a fracture of the femur near the hip joint. Despite her age, the doctors' concurred that it was best to operate and correct the situation. She subsequently had an operation to insert a metal plate and screw to hold the bone together. Overall, she is recovering well although she now faces several weeks of physiotheraphy. A lot of my time this week has been spent having her X-rays done, visiting doctors, etc.

A few weeks ago, I had a bad fall which resulted in a bruised ego and a trapped nerve. Unfortunately, due to the additional stress from carrying or transporting my mother about, I aggravated the nerve and was in considerable, immobilising pain from that.

So you could say that both of us are currently Hippy Sick and that's the reason I have not been blogging and visiting your blogs lately. I got an injection for the pain this morning and I may be on a Hippie High so please excuse me if parts of this post are senseless, incoherent or even possibly psychedelic!

sounds like you both need a hippie joint.

Ahhh . . . I confess this post makes me smile. But that's only because of your hippy high that came through. In seriousness, i wish you both well. My mother who is a year older than yours broke her hip in a fall while she was in the hospital. Apparently it didn't hurt all that much, and because her memory ain't what it used to be, she forgot she broke her hip and it healed right up with no problems. The mind body connection? Or lack there of? :>)

Oh Squirrelly! I am so sorry. Both of those injuries are so very painful. I've found that only acupuncture helps that kind of thing. Poor you and poor squirrelly mommy.

((hug))

You're in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry that you and your mother are both suffering, and at the same time yet.

I hope you both feel much better really soon.

Take good care of your wonderful self.

If your mother has to hav e an accidnet, the one that is quickly operated on and soon fixed is the best kind to have. I hope she (and you) are better soon.

I hate pain. Your mother will be fine. My mother in law had both hips replaced. Went on for many years after that.
I will pray for you.

Ouch - praying for a quick hip healing for both of you. I have hip pain as well but it comes & goes. Tends to get inflamed now & then, which happened when I was travelling in Africa a couple years ago. I have my very own hip xray - courtesy of 3 dollars at an Ethiopian clinic - it is one of my fave 'souvenirs' of the trip. LOL And one of my last because the inflammation was a reason to go home & rest. Hope you are both getting some rest.

Ugh! Well the very best to both of you hip people!

Yikes. Those various ops sound pretty painful. I wish you Godsped on your recovery.

By the way, the Hippie Chick was a definite luring element. She's pretty hot; in a Woodstocky, psychedelic sorta way.

So sorry to hear about your mom's accident. I'm moved by your caring tone toward her and sorry that it resulted in your own pain.
You know why I'm saying this... make her first priority as much as you can... the blogosphere will be here when you return.

Aw, Squirrel you are allowed to be a little messed up considering all that you've been through. I'll pray that you, and especially your mother make speedy recoveries.

Okay... You got me laughing out loud... NOT ABOUT YOU FALL THOUGH! But at that hippie girl! I think you will have to use a little bit more of a provocative photo if you want more action! :-)

Just kidding ya!

Sorry to hear about your mother as well as your fall. Take care of yourself. I know how difficult it is to get rest when you are a caregiver but you have to lookout for yourself every once in awhile right?

Good luck to you both in healing!

Squirrel do the hippie thing and take a drug for the nerve. Neurontin (gabapanetine) is for nerves that are in pain.

There is nothing better to a mother than a good squirrel.

Peace

"I got an injection for the pain this morning and I may be on a Hippie High." Groovy!

I hope your mother is okay. I know a fractured hip can be very serious in the elderly. Please give her a big hug and say, "This is from Josie." I would give you a big hug, too, but people would talk. *heh*

Keep taking the tablets!

Oh no! I'm sorry to have missed so much here. Back injuries are on my list of the worst pain (way past number 10). I hope you find that happy position/drug to help you relax and be pain free without surgery. Poor Squirrel.
