Spurred on by Mark's comments (The Walking Man), I am re-embarking on my get healthy and lose weight campaign. If you could be so kind, you can be my cheerleading section. I weigh 210 lbs (95 kg). My ideal weight is 165 lbs (75 kg). My nephew is getting married at the end of October; about 2 months away. I would like to drop at least 20 lbs or 9 kg by then.

Today, I returned to the gym after an absence of a year. I tried rowing. I used to be very good at that. I normally rowed 5 km in 20 minutes. Today, I had to stop after only 1.5 km because I was getting severe muscle cramps in the abdomen. Altogether, I was only about 70 % of where I was the last time I was at the gym. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Did I inspire anyone to follow suit?

The funny thing about that first picture is that I've actually seen my backyard squirrel lay down like that! It is always when it is super hot out.
Good luck at the gym! I need to get inspired to work out again. I know it's good for me in so many ways, but it is just so hard to get motivated.

I, too, have seen my backyard squirrel spread out like that on the fence. Hilarious! And I love your idea of dieting. Seriously though, I really need to get in some swimming.

VERY funny squirrel pictures.
I have a portion control problem. One handful of nuts is not enough...
You will do well, but one minor change in when or what you eat can make the difference. Don't try to do it in one day, or your abs will hurt tomorrow!

Have you considered weight watchers? They assign a point value for what you eat and you just keep it at that amt....Personally I couldn't do the math, and just watch the carbs and protien. I try not to mix fat with carbs. Anyway...I hope you do well. I am impressed that you went to the gym. Been trying to get there for months. Take care!

good is a hard thing to do (loose weight). I think I have up and down more times than I can remember. I'm at the up point again now but you have inspired me to go that downward way again.

RAH RAH RAH (me cheerleading). You can do it !!

Just keep up with the exercise. A bit now becomes a tiny bit bigger tomorrow & so on &so on.

And lots of water !! I didn't believe it until I got sick & then had to really work at re hydrating. But I've kept at it & I feel overall better everyday - in fact coffee & tea doesnt tempt methese days :s

AND & I think it has helped me slim a bit :) (with other changes I have made - but I do need to get back to exercise like some weights and yoga)


(or do I find some Marines to whoop you know what? *lol* :D)

Not too sure if my recommendations
are quite appropriate.

1) Start smoking
2)Get a hot mistress
3)Go through with the inevitable divorce--that's good for at least 70 pounds.

You'll end up a happy, sylph -like animal like me.

There was, however, some time spent in the nut house.

Good luck! Don't overdo the exercising to the point of injury and just be smart about what you put in your mouth. I eat very sensibly it's just that I consume 1900 calories a day in beer and am too lazy to exercise very often. You seem like the type that can meet a goal and I'm betting you will. Again, good luck!

Uncle LGS seems like this idea runs in our family. You know I am now known as the ms.piggy in the family :( Right now I am 163cm- height and 57kg. Seems okay if you look at it but the problem is I am too fleshy at the wrong place. I need encouragement too :(

Just keep telling yourself lean mean fighting machine,tastes like rat but the fat makes it tender when broiled.

Hell comparatively you're svelte a'ready but don't let that stop you.I clock in 250 and 6' but not an ounce of muscle left.

When I first saw this squirrel behaviour, I was puzzled but I think you are right that they do so to cool down. Neve Campbell got motivated to lose weight by promising to pose for Playboy. Are you talking that kind of motivation?

Dieting is hard for those of us passionate people who are passionate about their food, don't you think?

well, I have been trying to get to the gym for more than a year so it is no big achievement, just an overdue one! But if I can, so can you. I actually found that the zone diet and the Glycemic Index diets to work best for me. (I once lost 25 lbs on those but then spent a year celebrating!).

C'mon, we can do it. Are you with me? We can keep each other posted on progress.

I came by to your blog and saw your countdown thingey. It is a very pretty thingey. I am considering a graph of my successful weight loss. There is a technical difficulty.....I need to lose weight first! LoL.

I have no doubt that your three recommendations work but I think I'll have trouble acheiving them in two months! Also I doubt if anyone answers the ad for "Hot Mistress wanted to help in weight lost program."

Thanks. I would have problems with beer too except in Malaysia, good beer is prohibitively priced. Lucky me. :(
I find the zone and low glycemic index diets work best for me.

Good luck with the weight really boils down to if you want it bad enough you will find the way to accomplish it.
PS: you might have to lay off the nuts for a while though...can you handle this? LOL

Gym expensive further more Malaysians always talk about food day and night..For a start I am going to join my church for 21 days fast and pray... I commit to moderate eating .... Shared with my friends last nite..and we are going to do this togather :)(the fasting I mean :)
