Sometimes.....but...

Sometimes you think you are doing the right thing but you still get into trouble. Do you know what I mean?

Click picture for larger, clearer view.

This cartoon strip is by Berke Breathed and I think he has excellent story telling skills and wonderful comedic timing.

Long live Bill the Cat.

dave,
The last panel is the punchline! Glad you finally got it.

janice,
It could be an honest mistake!

diesel,
Opus should get a medal for being brave and self sacrifice in applying that manouver.

claudia,
It's worse than "hand lick"! It's "hind lick"!

gledwood,
Sorry, man. It does happen to all of us. It helps if we can laugh about it. For me, it helps to know that God values our heart more than empty actions. Peace.

jenny,
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I know that "Bloom Country" has ended but isn't it carrying on in other forms like "Outland"? Bill for President! You could do worse.....maybe.

When I first read it, I thought it said "Hind Lock." I used to love his stuff when it first came out. I particularly loved Bill the Cat.

wouldn't you know that the first and only time I did this on someone (in my restaurant) had to be on a man just about the size of King Kong!

I just heard of a preliminary earthquake report

how are things with you
was it near enough for you to feel or too far...
I will go to the news and see if I hear any reports there

Region: SOUTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA
Magnitude: 7.9 Mb

"Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and India all issued separate tsunami warnings telling residents to move away from the Indian Ocean coastline."

"The undersea quake erupted around 1100 GMT some 100 kilometres southwest of the city of Bengkulu at a depth of roughly 15 kilometres, the United States Geological Survey said."

"The huge quake -- anything over magnitude 7.0 is considered to have the possibility for massive damage and loss of life -- was felt in neighbouring Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, where office buildings swayed and shook."

guess what LGS.... my penpal John who in August had gone off on an Amazon adventure had just left Peru by two days when that earthquake hit...it destroyed the hotel they had stayed at and damaged the geologic formation The Cathedral that they had just visited!!!

I used to love the old Bloom County comics, but the newer stuff just hasn't worked for me. It's one I skip now when I read the Sunday comics.

Hehehe, thanks for the laugh this morning. I love this comic.

Did you get shaken? Were you affected?

I am ALWAYS getting into trouble, while doing what I think is the right thing at the time. Not with the Heimlich which I used a few years back to dislodge some meat from my nephews throat, but mostly for breaking things. I screw up and break things naturally. Most of the people I work around will blame me if something is found broken, even when it's not my fault!!

I sure hope you are all fine.

geewits,
Glad you are well enough to come visiting. Everyone seems to like the bad cat.

kat,
I hope the King Kong size man you saved from choking gave you a king kong size reward.

Thanks for the concern about my safety with regards to the Sumatran earthquake. I wasn't aware of it until I read your post. I'll keep you informed about its impact tomorrow if there is any. Incidentally, I am having a showdown with the bear that has been writing nasty email tomorrow. Might set off another earthquake. I feel ready for this controntation though.

cs,
I haven't the opportunity to see any of the new stuff so I can't comment. I guess the cartoonist wanted a change from the old formula even though it worked well with his fans.

margaret,
hi there september child. I think Eeyore is also a September born. Glad you enjoyed it and let this be a lesson to you to think twice before you apply the "hind lick" manouever.

gina,
Thanks for the concern. But I was unaware that the earthquake had happened. I will watch the news tomorrow to find out if there was any serious damage. Mty toilet flush is broken though.....did you do it?! ;)

I used to get a real kick out of Bloom County and I sure miss it. I wish they'd just start printing them all all over again. It's been so long now we'd enjoy them just the same.

I love it! LOL....
Hey How's the weather there? Are you ok???
Peace

Kat,
Hallelujah! I had my head to head with my bear. But some rangers had already come by earlier and ganged up on him. When I saw him, he was most subdued. He didn't apologise but he promised to mosey to some other part of the forest where he wouldn't bother me much. I didn't have to say a word! I was pleasantly surprised.

Lone Grey Squirrel said...

Ah tai! :)

leslie,
What do you read now instead of Bloom County?

odat,
everything is fine here thanks. Although there were some casualties in Indonesia from the earthquake.

Claire said...

Maybe you could post about the bear?
loved the comic...

Do you know the Marx Brothers?

Well, it's a duck ...

Lone Grey Squirrel said...

Claire,
The bear is "the one who cannot be named". Sorry, it's work related and not appropriate to share over the internet. Glad you like the cartoon.

Mago,
I know of the Marx Brothers but don't know about the duck. Sorry.
