Tough Act to Follow

on Thursday, July 05, 2007

I want to thank all those who took the trouble to read my last post and for all of you who went as far as to leave comments. Talking about one's faith is not always easy and one is always concerned that someone is offended or slighted by what is said. I will not back away from saying what I believe but have no intentions of offending anyone and if I had, I apologise.

Quite unexpectedly, according to my sitemeter, the last post was probably the most read post yet on my blog with 170 visitors in two days and also has the most number of comments. Thank you again for your interesting and thoughtful comments. I know this doesn't compare with some of your blogs which get hundreds of comments per post but it makes the sunshine over at this humble blog.

My problem was to decide what to blog about next. It is a tough act to follow. What could I do that would not appear boring and uninspired after that? Should I write about food cause there are always hungry readers? Should I just put up pretty pictures? Should I gossip about Paris Hilton? Naw, not ready to sink that low.

I decided that when faced with such a predicament, one should not fool around with some amatuerish effort. No, it's best to call in the professionals. And so, for your comedic relief, here are couple of real pros reprising a famous comedy routine called "Who's on first?" with a modern twist.

Even though I'm Canadian, I have to say you started my day off with a chuckle - a BIG one! :D

Divinely irreverent! Thanks.
Leslie, too.

OK, that's hilarious. I have no idea where you come up with this stuff - but it's funny.

BTW, I loved the post on your religious conversion. I just couldn't think of anything intelligent to say. :)

You rock, man!

Omigosh, LGS, that is wonderful...! I just love your sense of humor. Where on earth did you find that clip? Love it!

A good follow-up, for sure!

I thought your post on religion was beautifully honest and personal; it takes quite a lot of courage to write about something so close to the heart. Well done.

As for this post? A great balance to the one before!

Since there is no audio from me, I'm just saying it's all chuckles over here.

I think Canadians always get a kick out of jokes of their southern neighbor, don't they? Anyway glad I helped you start the day smiling.

leslie too,
I like the phrase "divinely irreverent". Its up there with "deliciously naughty". Some concepts belong together. :)

top cat,
praise indeed when it comes from you tc. :)

if you haven't stop laughing after 12 hours, discontinue any medication and see a physician! :) LoL.

People know my warped sense of humor and the send me stuff they think I'd like. I actually got this from my niece, Adelym. So thanks Adelym.

That by the way is how my collection of stuffed toys got started. Someone gave me one, another saw it and thought I was into it and gave me another and then someone saw the two toys and ......etc.

Thanks for the kind words.

nice to know that. :)

my niece, adelym sent this to me.

Thank you and thank you.

I hear you.:)

oh my !! That was tooooo funny !!!
I'm just giggling away. Do you mind if I post this youtube on my blog ? I write largely for me - try to showcase things I find funny...

I know my hubby reads my blogs and this would be such a funny surprise for him, knowing his politics and all and that I tend to be externally non-political.

Your last blog and the one I think was before about the satay fellow, really touched me.

I was going to post about religion, but you got me to thinking & I still have to figure out in more certain terms as to what I believe in.

Your satay friend.. I can almost speak to it, but not in quite the same way. It will be sad to have that social connectivity broken. You'll probably be thinking in 10 and 20 years, I wonder what happened to.. cause there was genuine caring, though the relationship was food/fiduciary based.

I do like your blogs - tho I was a bit surprised about the squirrel peering in at me one day. I came across this blog at the time when you let the squirrel guard down for a brief moment and I got to see you first, before the squirrel.

There is this underwriter, Sam, at my work who does not like our president very much and so I asked him to go to your site when I was in his office today and I showed him your post. Of course, he has seen it before, but then he asked me if I knew where this originated from...Abott and Costello...I had heard of them, but you know, having been raised Amish, I had never seen them on TV or anything, so I didn't know this kind of skit had been "done" before. So many things to learn...

Sorry about the audio but it is basically what is in the sub-titles except that it really, really sounnds like Bush.

Yes, if nothing else, it is nice to have the freedom to mock our politicians.

I think that is what they call good advertising.

I actually have a lot of respect for Kofi.

please steal the video....I did. Such fun is meant to be shared. Hope your husband will like it. Thank you for the kind comments about my previous posts. I look forward to your thoughts on religion.

kat :)

thanks for sharing in the serious and the fun. ;)

yes, the original gag was started by Abbot and Costello. This was way back when TV was black and white. It featured a baseball fan and a team manager. The manager is trying to explain the strange names of his team players. So, "Who" is on first,"What" is on second and "I don't know" is on third. Same idea.

I enjoy reading your blog...its a good escape for me.

hi LGS, this is toooooo funny. and he was portrayed exactly as dave letterman portrays him. my laugh of the day. thanx.

Hey....Good one. When in doubt, look at the lame side and laugh. Strangely enough, this scenerio, at least in part, is all very plausible in every day life. Just seems absurd when it happens in the oval office we think it absurd. Stranger things have actually occured there!

I thought that you were kidding about the plus hudred responses of some bloggers and then I saw 'Dans blah blah blog."

Lone Grey Squirrel said...

palm springs savant,
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment. We all need escapes. Glad to be considered a good escape. :)

Thanks. I am amazed that it sounds like him too.

I love it when strange things happen! Talking about strange things, Dan can talk about anything and he gets hundreds of comments. He can even say in one line that he's too busy to blog that day and hundreds of people are able to have lengthy discussions about what Dan actually means. Dan, if it sounds like I'm a little jealous's because I am. Sorry, but squirrels are very competitive, envious and like to be the centre of attention. LoL.
